Mental math for kids

Mental math that stays on the phone.

Create a child, pick a level, and practice. Lessons, exams, and scores work with no internet. Close the app. The progress is still there.

No account to start

The first screen asks who is learning. A name and an icon are enough.

Works offline

Lessons, practice, exams, and the game do not wait for a connection.

Scores stay put

Answers and exam results are saved on the phone and survive a restart.

Three steps, then it is saved.

A child can begin in airplane mode. Nothing on this path asks for a Google account.

1

Who is learning?

Type a name, up to 24 characters, and pick an icon: star, rocket, paw, school cap, smile, or heart.

2

Pick a level

Junior Level 1 through 6, or Senior Level 1 through 6. The choice stays with that child.

3

Learn, practice, test

A lesson is a short explanation, 3 practice questions, and a 3-question mini test. Home then shows Completed.

What is in the app

The home screen is titled Mental Math. Numbers on questions are large. A child taps digits, then a green check. A right answer says YES! A wrong one says Oops!

Practice

Free practice for the current level. A wrong answer stays on screen so the child can try again. Every checked answer is saved.

Exam

A timed test. The default is 10 questions and 5 minutes. A parent can change the length, the time, and how many digits appear.

Smart Practice

About 10 questions built from what that child misses, with fewer questions from what they already get right.

Number Catch

The same kind of question, with falling answer choices. The child taps the one that matches.

Stars, streak, badges

Stars come from correct answers. A streak grows on days with activity. Three badges mark a first answer, a finished lesson, and a strong exam.

More than one child

Switch child keeps practice, exams, lessons, stars, and streaks separate.

Twelve levels, one lesson each

Each level has its own short lesson. This is practice in the app, not a downloadable course catalog.

Junior

  1. Plus only
  2. Plus and minus
  3. Three numbers
  4. Mixed signs
  5. Four-step total
  6. Two-digit totals

Senior

  1. Longer columns
  2. Multiply
  3. Divide evenly
  4. Decimals
  5. Fractions
  6. Mixed paper

A parent screen, behind a PIN

The Parent button asks for a 4-digit PIN. The first visit sets it. Later visits must match. The PIN stays on that phone, and it is not part of a cloud backup. We cannot look up a forgotten PIN.

Behind the PIN, a parent can see each child’s level, lesson, accuracy, and recent exams, and can switch the active child.

Optional backup

A parent can upload progress and receive a short code, then type that code on another phone to restore. The code is the key. Anyone who has it can restore that backup, so keep it private.

If a parent uploads, a public Board can show an avatar label and a count of correct answers. The child’s name is not shown on the Board.
